All students must follow safety precautions, as laid out by course instructors, while in Labs, or participating in any school function. This includes wearing safety glasses, or other protective equipment, as well as handling equipment and materials within safety guidelines. If there is a safety question, it is the responsibility of the student to contact an instructor for further assistance. Habitual failure to practice the required safety rules may result in Academic Suspension and termination from a program. In the event of an emergency (fire alarm or building lockdown) please follow the proper procedures. Lockdown In the event that a serious criminal act, rape, homicide, danger of suicide, or shooting would occur, a Lockdown would be activated. Lock classroom doors; do not admit students/people. Sweep team will account for missing students. Sit on the floor out of view of doors, windows, and any hazardous materials. Keep students quiet; turn off lights. Close Blinds. Do not leave the classroom for any reason. Do not call the office unless an intruder is at your door. Do not make any phone calls. If outside, gather and hold at predetermined muster zones until you receive further instructions from the situation response team. Fire Alarm Students should familiarize themselves with gathering locations and use of fire alarm boxes and fire extinguishers. Make sure fire exit directions posted in every room. Fire drills should be conducted in a most efficient and well disciplined manner. Turn off lights. Close door. Walk outside using an appropriate evacuation plan and rendezvous at predetermined meeting place. Use alternate evacuation route if necessary. Move at least 500 feet away from building. Take roll. |
