| Description This program exposes students to the health care field. Students gain knowledge about career opportunities in medicine, nursing, LPN, LP, dietetics, and biomedical engineering. They also leant about the needs of medical equipment technicians, EKG technicians, radiographers, radiology technicians, lab technicians, physiotherapists, social workers, and many other connected fields, including medical computer technology and coding. Topics such as health care cost controlling systems, self care for health care workers, medical math, computer technology, medical history, physical examination procedures, medical law and ethics, and death and dying are covered. Trends in the medical field, technological, diagnostic, and treatment developments are discussed. The program is focused on objective thinking, communication skills, problem solving, and critical thinking. Students have the opportunity to take the Nurse Aide or Introduction to Health Care course. Each course will qualify the student for the final course, Knowledge Development in Health Care. |
