Overview

The ASC is located on a five-acre campus at the Cyber Center in York, Pennsylvania.  The Cyber Center is a 52,030 sq. ft. structure built by the York County Economic Development Commission in 1984 with the purpose of supporting the development of emerging businesses, particularly those in the advanced technology areas.  The ASC entered the facility in July 2000, and now occupies nearly 50% of the building, and embodies a comprehensive system of workforce programs and services.

The ASC embodies a learning environment where students receive instruction on high end manufacturing equipment, while simultaneously receiving instruction in processes used by regional businesses. Students and incumbent workers gain the valuable skills needed to succeed in an ever changing technological world.  Students have the opportunity to advance their skills in Auto Technology, Computer Aided Drafting, Geospatial Systems, Health Care, Industrial Automation, Machine Technology, and Welding.

The main objective of the school is educate students so that they may achieve meaningful, long-term employment at family-sustaining wages; thereby creating productive, positive-thinking men and women who are prepared for today and tomorrow's workforce.  It is a workforce that permits confident business planning for the future of the region and its residents.


Mission

To provide well designed post secondary education and training programs for York County students, the unemployed, and incumbent workers that meet the present and future skilled labor needs of South Central Pennsylvania.

Facilities

The ASC is located on a five-acre campus at the Cyber Center in York, Pennsylvania.  Advanced technology is used in all ASC programs.  The design of labs and equipment is such that the knowledge and skill sets learned prepare students for practical applications in the workforce.  The ASC annually reviews equipment needs, status, age, wear and tear, and appropriateness, thereby addressing the needs of equipment, computers, programs, robots, venting systems and building maintenance on a regular basis and in cooperation with departmental Program Advisory Committees and the ASC governing board. 
  
The ASC has six educational labs, over forty computers, industry standard software, multiple classrooms, conference rooms, a resource center, as well as administrative offices.  For a complete equipment list please see the Director of Education.


Class Size


Courses that are in computer labs can hold a maximum of 20 students at one time.  Programs in Welding, Industrial Automation and Machine Technology have a capacity of 10 students per class.  Health Care has openings for 20 students per course.  Student capacity is subject to change based on equipment availability.
